In Summary-
Markets still very volatile especially Canadian Markets. The Canadian TSX was down sharply with Oil stocks taking big hits and also the banking sector taking a grubbing as well. My portfolio has mirrored the drop with it unfortunately. I am not worried though as this is what the markets do even though I am down $33,547.
I have been quite busy with some real estate deals lately and making a major play which is in the works. Doing so will force me to reanalyze my Reit positions and I will be more than likely getting rid of my margin Reit plays in the new year. My Margin Reit play was a big loser for me so far but whatever, no worries, thats business! Got to keep moving forward and making things happen. I am not 100% sure of my real estate plans just yet. Not sure if and when I will be moving but I have some options opening up for me in the near future
In the brewery startup news there has been a few set backs but nothing major. Still looking to start pouring beer in the spring with fingers crossed. With new businesses set backs are expected and I am not worried yet. Could be a couple years before I start seeing some capital back.
My father has been in and out of the hospital quite a bit with a bad heart and a quintuple bypass is needed. Its been stressing me out a bit and I haven't been as active as I would like with blogging lately. I am not worried about the dip in my net worth as their are more important things afoot lately.
Till the next update Good Day and Grind On!
Ouch..sorry to see your net worth drop by $33K. The Canadian market is taking a toll on lots of portfolios. Hopefully things will stabilize soon.
ReplyDeleteAlso, sorry to hear that your father is having health concerns and needs surgery. Wishing him and the rest of the family the best.

Thanks buddy for the words. These health problems have got my dads butt in gear thinking about end of life plans thankfully. Its a topic nobody likes but must be addressed.
DeleteAG,
ReplyDeleteMy stepfather had the same surgery way back in 1996. The medical technology now is insane and while all surgeries have risk, heart bypass surgery is incredibly safe. As far as the portfolio goes, you have got the right attitude. There is always more money to be made (and lost).
Hang in there buddy and I hope all goes well with your dad.
MDP
thanks buddy. Cant dwell on setbacks. Always easier to make new money compared to trying to recover losses
DeleteWish you and your dad for the best!
ReplyDeletethanks buddy. My dad is a stubborn bastard! he may live longer out of spite of my mother!
DeleteBest of luck with the new real estate ventures, and speedy recovery for your father once he has surgery. Keep on grinding and don't worry about the bumps in the road.
ReplyDeleteNever a smooth ride in life. Its how u take the bumps that will mold your character.
DeleteAsset-Grinder,
ReplyDeleteWanted to say I enjoy your site, nice to see how someone with a decent sized net worth conducts their business operations. Sorry to hear about the loss of net worth this month and wishing your dad a quick recovery once he has surgery.
thanks for droppin by. doesnt matter your net worth but your attitude , dedication and ability to adjust to new situations. too many people say shoulda woulda coulda and are too afraid to make moves in life. I rather fail in life rather than never taken a shot at it and just scrape by.
DeleteHow do you plan on tracking the brewery investment, just a book value? I don't think it changes month to month, am I right?
ReplyDeleteThey plan on doing quarterly evaluations and their should be a share value attached to it. Will probably be quarter 3 till I see an increase of share value I am guessing, but no dividends from them until somewhere in year 1-2 I am guessing.
DeleteSorry to hear about your dad, hope the best for him. The net worth loss should recover for you once the markets recover. Like you said, no need to worry.
ReplyDeleteJust got to ride out the bumps. Equities are not for the weak at heart!
DeleteA-G,
ReplyDeleteMy best thoughts for your dad. I hope the surgery turns out well for him.
In the meanwhile, great numbers again. You could have bad months like this for another year straight and still be sitting on an extremely impressive amount of wealth.
Cheers!
Never feel bad for a millionaire, lol or is it never fear bad for anyone that owns a plane which I do not. Yah up and down the markets go but it really doesnt change anything at these levels. All the best man for the holidays and good luck with the wifey!
DeleteHey Asset-Grinder,
ReplyDeleteMy heartfelt wish for the recovery of your father!
Looking at your numbers, I always find it amazing of how big are the amount of your net worth fluctuations because you have such a high base. Your monthly increase/decrease is higher than my current total investment value, it really works as a motivation to keep working hard on this path.
Thank you and once again, wishes of the best for your father!

When u see your portfolio go up and down 10k in one day it makes me me gulp lol. Hrad to ever get use to it. I make a grumpy face and shriek when I see a big down day and that about it. Cant let affect u too much.. thanks for the good wishes and all the best to u during the holidays
DeleteSorry to hear about your father.
ReplyDeletethanks for the wishes,, all the best to u during the holidays
DeleteI look forward to seeing what real estate plans you have. I'm sorry to hear about your father.
ReplyDeleteyeah things are comin up. will have post soon about it
DeleteImpressive Net Worth. Even more impressed that you are mortgage free. I am working to be in the same position before I turn 35. Looking forward to your updates.
