6 month anniversary on the blog and adsense finally!

I was quite surprised it has been 6 months since I started my lil blog. Its been fun and I really appreciate the community that goes with it. I also celebrated a birthday this past week as well. I am approaching 40 and it seems daunting a bit and I feel older everyday! You know when you are getting old when you start enjoying watching Downton Abbey lol.

I haven't been as active as I would like last couple months in blogging but I hope I can buckle down in the near future and stick to writing more often even though I am a crappy writer. Just been out of the house a lot checking out real estate deals and tending to my very sick father which is always hard. On the bright side looks like I will be coming into an early 6 figure inheritance from my family in the next few months. Hopefully it will put my passive income on the fast track and I really get moving.

I am happy I finally was able to add ad-sense to my free blogger account. I dont expect to make a living off my poorly written posts but it is always nice to see money even if its a few pennies a day. I have tried experimenting with ads and I hope it is not too intrusive. I have no idea what all this means CTR, page RPM but one day I will figure it out.

 In Summary-

Crazy swing from last month when my net worth went down $28,473 and now up $49,867 this month. Pretty much when I made my last report it was the market bottom and it has roared back since. Apple has continued to be my strongest stock hitting new highs. Also I have been playing weekly Apple options where I made some quick bucks here and there and will continue to do so in the next month as well. Only laggard in my portfolio is energy stocks as they continue their decline with cheap oil. I wouldn't mind throwing a few bucks in oil futures but I have a significant portion of my Canadian portfolio already in oil so I am tentative to do so right now but If we start seeing $60 dollar oil prices then I will probably make a big move into getting some more.

So my stock strategy right now is just to pay down my margin accounts from dividends and options premiums and play apple a lil bit and try to hold off buying anything else until the new year or big opportunities exist.

In other news not too much else is going on. The brewery hit a few timing snags and looks like it wont be pouring beer until February with some equipment delays but things are coming along nicely there.

In real estate news I have been looking at quite a few different segments, Looked at a few apartment buildings as my cousin wants to partner up and buy one. Its a big commitment and checking into things with him. Also been looking at building lots in my area and there is not much out there right now.

Hopefully next month will be another green one leading into the new year.

New Buy CJR.B Corus Entertainment and added more CPG Crescent point energy

Corus Entertainment group and Crescent point energy.


Corus Entertainment group is a 1.7 billion dollar company that operates radio and television programs. They have had a 5 year dividend growth rate of 6.72% and their current dividend is yielding 5.2%. It is a company that was previously on my watch list and just recently it has taken a large dip in which I have initiated a position on it. They currently have a 12 p/e ratio. Its a sector I am not really in so I thought what the hell lets get in there.




Crescent Point has taken a beating lately with crashing oil prices. My portfolio already has quite a bit of oil dependent stocks but I did a small add at these levels especially with a juicy 7.65% dividend monthly payer that has been consistent for 20 years. A bit of a gamble here but I like the company!

I dont anticipate too many buys in the coming months and will be paying down my margin account instead. I will however continue some swing trades with Apple via options in the meantime. I had a small AliBaba position which I will be exiting as my covered call will be executed soon for a small gain.

OTHER NEWS

In other news my diet has begun and I am in Halloween candy withdraw. It pains me but I must keep strong. Since we are on the topic of charts, here is my weight chart since March





As you can see my weight is slowly creeping back up since my strict smoothie fast. My diet was much better before and still kept off 10 pounds but the momentum of this chart is not looking good. My moving day average and technical indicator if this was a stock chart shows bearish indicators lol.

I must shakeup the system and get back on track. So for the next while I will be doing a breakfast and lunch smoothie about (300 calories consisting of fruit , vegetables, yogurt and protein powder and a normal sized dinner. My in between meal snacks will be different tho and out goes the candy and junk food and replaced with nuts, granola and fruit. Wish me luck as I am feeling very weak as we speak lol. Must have candy!!..........

For those wondering how I track my weight I use a wifi enabled scale at home that shoot info over to my apple devices or web based viewing. I find it helpful to monitor.
