Could you sell the house and live somewhere else for less?
ReplyDeleteIMO, a home is not an investment but I could see including the difference you could pocket by downsizing in your assets.
I agree, if it were up to me I would live in a 300k apartment. But My wife and kids wouldn't appreciate it. I have been looking to downsize and i have not found the right place yet. I am looking for something in the 900-999k range and yet to find something in my criteria where everyone will be happy. Market value for my house is between 1.35-1.45m. So I would be walking away with an extra 300k to invest after fees I am guessing. Right now i am very house rich and I don't like my ratio it has towards my investments. I had a much higher net worth a couple years ago but I got hit with a nasty audit and I had to give the government back a big chunk of change :(
DeleteI do not have Twitter. Do you have a link on SA that I can follow you? Thank you, Margaret
ReplyDeleteCurious what equities you are considering. I need to give my stocks a good looking over and will be needing to find some replacements soon. Was looking for website of regular people who do their own investing but have had little luck in the search.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Andrew. many in my blogroll have their own equity portfolio you can look at or go to Mopdest Money blog for their top finance blog sites to connect with real people at http://www.modestmoney.com/top-finance-blogs/

ReplyDeleteDo you have permission to use that photo, or is it copyright free? If not, that's a quick way to lose a few thousand bucks...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. I am taking down all copyright material now and replacing it with free use sources.
DeleteVery nice Asset-Grinder...Congrats on reaching the $2 million mark! We just hit the $1 million mark this past month and we are wondering if its true what they say, was the second million much easier to reach?
ReplyDeleteWishing you continued success on your personal journey! AFFJ
Grats on the mill mark! Yes it is true that the second is much easier to attain. Like all milestones it is about momentum! keep up the good work on your side!
DeleteHopefully the market continues to perform well and you will be above 3 million in no time. I think your double down with AAPL could pay off big.
ReplyDeleteKeep Grinding!!
