6 month anniversary on the blog and adsense finally!

I was quite surprised it has been 6 months since I started my lil blog. Its been fun and I really appreciate the community that goes with it. I also celebrated a birthday this past week as well. I am approaching 40 and it seems daunting a bit and I feel older everyday! You know when you are getting old when you start enjoying watching Downton Abbey lol.

I haven't been as active as I would like last couple months in blogging but I hope I can buckle down in the near future and stick to writing more often even though I am a crappy writer. Just been out of the house a lot checking out real estate deals and tending to my very sick father which is always hard. On the bright side looks like I will be coming into an early 6 figure inheritance from my family in the next few months. Hopefully it will put my passive income on the fast track and I really get moving.

I though I would share a few stats from the blog so far

Average pageviews a day 430 since inception
Total pageviews for a bit over 6 months 78,934

I am happy I finally was able to add ad-sense to my free blogger account. I dont expect to make a living off my poorly written posts but it is always nice to see money even if its a few pennies a day. I have tried experimenting with ads and I hope it is not too intrusive. I have no idea what all this means CTR, page RPM but one day I will figure it out.

Here are some adsense stats so far, lol I am $7.22 richer! lol. I can now retire!!!!

I am wondering what other fellow bloggers are averaging in pageviews a day and wondering how much cash you guys are taking in via ads? Any tips for me?

  1. Happy 6-month anniversary and congrats on getting the adsense setup.

As far as tips go, that top banner is your money maker. I see that you have already set it up. For my own blog, majority of the revenue is generated by that top banner. I dont make much...maybe $50/month. Theres a lot on the web about the ad placement and tips & tricks.

    Best wishes

    1. Hey 50$ is not too shabby at all. I have been fooling around with placements and things and hopefully no more obnoxious russian/chinese buy a wife dating sites pop up anymore lol. I dont mind the financial, telecom ads as they are the ones I often click on!

  2. Happy Birthday!! Congrats on getting adsense up and running. Mine shows available now but when I tried to get approved they denied me due to insufficient content, which was expected with 30 posts or so and only a few months blogging. Not sure of what the actual requirements are? In any case, congrats and I'll be sure to support your website!

    1. For blogger it says you need to be on 6 months at least and then the add adsense button popped up for me. Dont worry u will get there

  3. Congrats on the anniversary, you have great stats.

Just FYI, you should probably consider moving to your own domain name and hosting a Wordpress-themed website. More flexibility around monetizing and just way more control over it.

    1. Been thinking of running a test site to try that out. Just not sure if its worth it just yet.

    2. The cost is farily minimal. Hosting will put you back around $40/year give or take. You can pick up a free wordpress theme or buy one for $10-20. So, it's not expensive, but the hassle of transferring your blogspot content to a new platform might be a bit of a headache, but you can hire people to do that for you for couple hundred bucks if you don't want to do it yourself. I don't know much about this computer website stuff but if you play around with it apparently you can do a lot yourself.

  5. Congrats on your milestone and traffic stats. I agree with FU above about hosting your site on your own domain rather than blogspot. You'll have full control over your site and create value for the domain over time instead of creating value (traffic) for blogspot.

  6. You are doing pretty well!! Nice numbers. I've been blogging for almost a year now and I get hardly any traffic lol. So unpopular!! I use blogger hosted through godaddy. Paid $2.19... Dunno if ill continue on. I average 15 views a day that counts in AdSense. I make about a penny a day not bad eh???

  7. Congrats on the 6 month anniversary! Thats a pretty big milestone as far as blogs are concerned. And the stats are looking good. I dont think I was anywhere near those kinds of numbers after just 6 months. But if I can start writing more, remains to be seen depending on our son, I should cross 1 million views around the end of Q1 2015 which would be awesome. I guess I'd be a millionaire in at least one way. Congrats again and happy birthday!

  9. Happy 6 months, man. ^_^ Those are some nice stats so far. After a full year of blogging I only had like 2,000 pageviews a month haha. So you are doing much better than I was. Interesting that most of your visitors are from the U.S. but the majority of mine have consistently been from Canada. I think we write about different topics which attract viewers from different locations, which is cool. :) Happy birthday. 40 is the new 30 they say (^_-)

  11. Congrats on 6 months and approval on AdSense....you're doing well AG! We are in a similar place...we started our blog earlier this year and was also approved for AdSense about 3 weeks ago. You may consider looking into a Media.Net account from Yahoo! Bing. I too have no clue what CTR and RPM means but it appears that Media.Net, because they don't seem to pay per click, pay you a higher daily amount. In the approx. 2 weeks that we've been with Media.Net, we've averaged about .25/day. Woohoo! :)

Wishing you continued success my friend. AFFJ

  12. A-G,

    Congrats on the blogiversary :)

Those numbers seem pretty solid to me. Takes a long time to get serious traction going in regards to traffic, at least in my experience.

    Keep it up!

    Best regards.

  15. Congrats on making six months, AG! That's a decent amount of daily visitors and pageviews, well done.

As for AdSense, I'm not an expert, but I'm making about the same as you on a monthly basis. Haven't put too much thought into it yet and I basically use it to cover my hosting bills.

    Cheers,
